TAO is the coin of Bittensor, a network of machine-learning subnets. Most people buy it on centralized exchanges, but Bittensor also has an EVM layer where TAO is the native coin and can be held in an ordinary EVM wallet.
Soheil reaches Bittensor with a route of its own built on Hyperlane: your tokens are bridged from the network you hold them on and arrive as TAO in the same EVM address on Bittensor.
What you need
- An EVM wallet (MetaMask, Rabby, Phantom). The receiving address on Bittensor is your usual EVM address.
- Tokens on any supported network: USDC or ETH on Ethereum, Base or Arbitrum, SOL on Solana, and so on.
Buying
- Open the swap, pick what you pay with and choose TAO on Bittensor as the destination.
- Compare the routes. For Bittensor the choice is small, so the card mostly tells you the time: the bridge waits for the source chain, which on Ethereum means a few minutes, on Base or Arbitrum usually less.
- Sign once. The page follows the transfer and shows the TAO balance when it lands.
Selling
The reverse works the same way: choose TAO on Bittensor as what you pay with and USDC on the network you want. Keep a little TAO in the wallet for gas on Bittensor itself.
Things to know
TAO on the EVM layer is the same asset as TAO on the main Bittensor chain; moving between the two is done with Bittensor's own tools, not here. Staking to subnets happens on the main chain. Prices move while a bridge settles, which is why every route shows a minimum you receive; your slippage setting controls that margin.
